Had some great draft games. Sir Konrad was looking grim indeed above versus my red/white aggro deck. Though I was blown out of the water by black/green food. Aggro is so spikey. When I hit my curve perfectly, the games quickly went in my favor. When I didn't hit it just right, they went equally quick the other direction. I don't often draft red/white aggro in Throne of Eldraine, but I got several solid red aggro cards including Torbran.
I really want to make a Commander or brawl deck out of this. A little impact tremors, goblin bombardment and boggart shenanigans could do very nicely.
Did get to play my Karlov heads up against Chris' Krenko deck. I thought I was going to take myself out with two ancient tombs (one thespian staged). Was able to climb back with a lifelinked giant Karlov and eventually seal the deal with Sanguine Bond and Boon Reflection. It was a rare, non commander damage win from Karlov.
And who says mono-white is weak in commander? Well everybody. But Guru didn't get the memo and bounced back from a board wipe to win with his Oketra zombie horde.
Then I got super lucky after begging for my life and promising not to do anything to Guru until we were down to 2 players. Well, I bounced back and got my cloudstone curio out and proceeded to kindred discovery through my deck for free thanks to Morophon until I found my lavabelly sliver. True to my word, I took out the other two players before knocking Guru out. Think twice before showing mercy to slivers. They can pull a win out of nowhere.
We'll be taking a break from play next week thanks to thanksgiving, but we'll be back for more draft and commander in December on Wednesdays at Laughing Monk.
